Our Story

Vision

Making people aware, willing, and capable for life.

One person learns to become aware of the processes within themselves and to understand themselves better in this regard; another learns that vulnerability is a strength and that asking questions leads to learning.

Strengthening churches and developing trainers.

By teaching them Biblical principles of salvation, the church will do more of what it is meant to do, and more members will walk in their destiny and bear lasting fruit.

Together we achieve more.

By working together with churches, ministries, congregations, and aid organizations,

and joining forces, we can make a difference in people's lives and build a better society.

The beginning of

Training people means helping people grow. That is a passion of the Lord, but also of mine. Making disciples for the work of the ministry has always been my goal. I originally come from the world of sports. There, it is normal to train hard and well to win matches. That is why I was surprised that many sincere believers got stuck in their development. It was not due to their ability to learn. There was something else going on that I didn't quite understand… until I saw something in James 1:21. Many people were hungry for the Word. We had a strong teaching program, and yet growth failed to materialize.

One day, during a lesson, I noticed that people were not accustomed to putting off wrong things themselves. It was as if they thought God would do it, or that it would happen automatically. Some even tried to keep things hidden out of fear of God. Then my eyes were opened. Putting off is a first step, as is often indicated in the New Testament (1 Peter 2:1-3). But people do not do this automatically. I also saw that inner pain, disappointment, and sorrow were often held onto. As a result, the Word could do little, because a barrier had formed. This is how I understood why sincere believers wanted to move forward but still got stuck. Not only in their faith development or life circumstances, but especially within themselves. When things became difficult, they did not fall back on the Word being taught, but on old habits, behaviors, and patterns.

That is why the process James describes is so important. It is a principle, a method. If you change the process, the outcome changes too. Instead of the soul being restored and formed, the truth of God's Word caused pain. It was as if old wounds were reopened. That is precisely the problem. Wanting to receive the Word with open wounds—which is described as a sword (Hebrews 4:12, Ephesians 6:17)—is not a good combination. The soul is not restored then. People do not take action, but remain passive or apathetic. Self-reflection is also lacking (James 1:21-25).

This insight led to a different approach in our training program. The goal became not only spiritual growth, but also for these truths to work within the soul. The result was that people experienced emotional and mental recovery, sometimes for the first time in many years. Many people do not realize that they have imprisoned themselves—often out of survival—by saying: “I will never again…”. In the world of sports, it is normal to unlearn wrong techniques and learn good ones. That process of unlearning and learning enables someone to perform better. Let us apply this within Christianity as well. I am grateful that Afke is stepping out in this regard and can help many in this sometimes difficult, but indispensable inner process.

About fifteen years ago, I hit a wall in my personal life. I noticed that I wasn't well connected with myself. I was living mostly on autopilot, with ups and downs. I wasn't happy. It became increasingly clear that my life was built on survival strategies.

My foundation lay in science. After studying Movement Sciences, combined with subjects like philosophy and psychology, I noticed that this did not give me the answers I was looking for. It did not fill the void inside me.

After graduating, I decided to find myself first before taking further steps. I searched for myself, but found God in the Christian faith. He healed me of infertility and taught me who I truly was.

During this journey of faith, I discovered that there was much within me that was blocking me from living the way God intended. I was invited to Prologos Bible School for the study training to become a life coach, which gave me deep insight into myself and my processes. It helped me to shed old habits, patterns, and survival strategies.

I learned again. I found myself again: recovered, emotionally balanced, and full of self-confidence and zest for life. My soul was healed. And I knew one thing: there are many more people like me. People who get stuck in life, are blocked in their souls, seek fulfillment, and want to break free from unhealthy patterns that hinder their growth.

This is the reason why Sozo coaching was created. You can have a lot of knowledge, but knowing and understanding yourself is essential. How to recover and develop personally are skills that many of us have never learned.

Meanwhile, I have been teaching soul redemption for 6 years, coaching people who are stuck within themselves, and I have seen many people recover, develop, and become healthy.
